Dunfermline Remembered DVD

By Dunfermline.info - Sun, 27th Dec 2009

Dunfermline Heritage Trust have release a new DVD with a completely new selection of images that will take people on another nostalgic trip back in time.
Following on from the huge success of the ‘Old Dunfermline’ DVD that Dunfermline Heritage Trust produced last year, a completely new selection of images have been put together in time for Christmas that will take people on another nostalgic trip back in time.

Entitled ‘Old Dunfermline Remembered’ the selection of images featured include poignant scenes of soldiers relaxing on Masterton Farm, a military parade up Dunfermline High Street and some German prisoners of war.

The ironmongers Coull and Mathew, Watt and Dewar and Souness are featured, as is Maloco’s cafe now long gone from Dunfermline. Broomhead flats and Trondheim Parkway are also pictured shortly after they were built with their new tenants looking delighted with the accommodation that replaced the substandard housing they were leaving.

Little did they know that some of these flats would themselves be pulled down a few decades later!

Other diverse images such as Billy the Cockatoo which was the star attraction at Dunfermline Aviary in the Glen, Dunfermline’s ice-hockey team, the Carnegie Street Bus station (from the era when Dunfermline had two bus stations as well as two railway stations) and ‘prefabs’ (temporary housing built at the end of World War Two) at Rosyth’s Dollytown and Townhill are just some of the many images that complete what Dunfermline Heritage Trust will be an even more popular DVD.

DHT Chairman Craig Lindsay is looking forward to the launch of this latest production. “The five sell-out ‘Old Dunfermline’s performances have contributed greatly to enabling Dunfermline Heritage Trust to continue operating the award-winning Heritage Centre, and interest shows no signs of abating. We were amazed at how well ‘Old Dunfermline’ went down last year and are confident that we will repeat this again this year
